The old saying that “content is king” still holds true today. Search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo all reward websites that provide “useful” information for their visitors. To get indexed you must provide original, relevant and substantive information that not only informs, but keeps the visitor engaged (time on site).

Types of content that are proven to generate positive results:

Video testimonials (with transcription) are a great starting point for dealers who are looking to not only expand their online footprint, but improve their reputation. The videos can also be refocused via social media to initiate a viral marketing component.

Video and text reviews of your inventory are another great way to get noticed by Google (of course it will take some SEO knowledge regarding the proper use of titles, descriptions, keywords and tags). The text review will get more pages indexed while the video review will keep the visitor onsite longer.

Know your Social Media etiquette. Too many dealers make the mistake of posting their inventory to popular sites like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Social media is just that; it is meant to be social. The goal of social media is to post your reviews, testimonials, latest news and or announcements that your followers will continue to find interesting enough to keep coming back.

Your website must be “Responsive”. The days of having a dedicated mobile version of your dealerships website have come and gone. As more and more people turn to their smartphones as their primary source of information gathering Google has made it clear that if your website is not mobile friendly it will not serve up your website in its search results. Having a responsive website platform allows your visitors to access ALL of the information that is available on your website regardless of the device they use to view it.
